Internal Communication And Gamification

Internal communication is one of the issues that poses a problem for many companies. Especially with the increase of working from home with the pandemic, many of the employees in the company do not know each other. Companies have started to use gamification as a solution to this problem, as an efficient working environment cannot be provided in institutions where healthy communication cannot be established and the expectations and needs of employees cannot be understood. Motivation is the basis of gamification. Gamification, which motivates users to reach the desired goal and enables them to have fun on the way to the goal, is a very effective tool to increase internal communication in addition to many purposes such as training, customer/employee loyalty, increasing performance. Employees playing games together even when not side by side, challenging each other, leaderboards and many special tasks that allow employees to get to know each other help prevent employees who have never met each other to get an idea about each other and not hesitate to communicate. Gamification contributes to the employees’ adoption of the institution and corporate culture of which they are a part. By means of gamification, employees get to know other members of the institution, their duties, authorities and responsibilities in a fun way. Thus, the stress on the employees is prevented. Slalom Colsulting company in the USA used a gamification application for more than 2000 employees to get to know each other, and at the end of the application, the recognition rates of the employees increased by 89%.

Gamification, which increases the social visibility of the employees both in the game and within the organization with team or individual games, and thus enables them to communicate with each other more easily, opens the way for effective communication and contributes to the increase of the cooperation within the organization, thus increasing the efficiency.
